Why does it sometimes skip this wait period and automatically publish? If an orphan pops up occasionally I need time to make sure I can exit it after publishing from wealthlab.

That is how the old wealth publisher works. WealthLab8 as soon as you run a strategy it auto submits the signals and one has to manually exit an orphaned position. If there is not a 15 minute grace period after signal position than strategy authors who utilize wealthlab7 or 8 cannot exit orphaned positions, this was what happened last night to me and it just auto-published.

There's only one case where this is by design - it's when you publish signals between 0900 and 0930 - there is no grace period. All other times, you have 15 minutes to go into the system page, cancel publishing, amend, and publish again. I've never seen this not work correctly - and I've been publishing nearly every day for about 8 years.

In case it's not clear, you must look at the system page to find out when the signals are actually published. The grace period is not indicated in the Signal Publisher.
